TAZ bests Simms in rematch

The coverage:

Boxing Prospects' Review of the fight:

Tammie Johnson and Jana Simms know each other quite well, having stepped in to the ring just over a month ago. Johnson won that fight relatively easily. The result would be the same in the rematch, and the differences in the fight were subtle. Johnson scored when ever she threw a punch, but she was most effective when she came up the middle against Simms. Though Simms carries her hands high to protect her chin, they drift. When that occurred, Johnson was able to slip her left between the arms.

In each round Johnson stung Simms, and there were times when it appeared Johnson might just send Simms to the mat. To her credit, Simms stayed on her feet and at times she threw punches back at Johnson. Simms though too often found herself off balance,a and thus she could get little power behind the jab or the right. Johnson has strength in both hands, and with experience, she will begin to harness it, become more effective, and probably continue to win. Each judge scored the fight 40-36.
