TAZ edged in controversial majority decision

OCEAN SHORES, WA – Tammie 'Tasmanian Devil' Johnson (3-0) stepped into the ring tonight against 7-1 Molly McConnell of Portland for the Washington State Welterweight Championship. In every aspect of the fight, Johnson was up to the task. She came out the busier fighter, throwing and landing more punches. Johnson kept McConnell on the ropes most of the night.

After six thrilling rounds, the judges scored the fight 57-57, 59-55 and 58-56 for a majority draw in favor of the veteran McConnell. The reaction in the arena went from shock to anger with the concensus that TAZ won her first title.

Johnson takes on tough foe

(APR 25) Last night at the Quinault Resort & Casino, in Ocean Shores, Washington, Tammie Johnson, 135, 3-0, fought tough veteran, Molly McConnell, 141, who is ranked #5 in the WBAN Ratings.

McConnell won the six-rounder by a close majority decision with one judge seeing the fight a draw. Johnson is showing early in this game as a pro that she is not hesitant to take on some noted opponents. Final judges scores, 59-55, 58-56, and 57-57.
